You don’t have to be a doctor or nurse to work in a hospital. Hospital need people to work in back office or in position with direct patient contact but not necessary involve medical care or medical treatment. These types of jobs are not as popular as doctor or nurse, but they do exist and are needed in health care institutions.

These jobs are non-clinical jobs. Just like in the previous paragraph, this job could have direct patient contact for example the billing or cashiering officers in hospital, the cleaning service or laundry service. The job is not limited to the back office job such as IT, accounting, and human resources, the jobs without direct contact with patients. The director of operation department could be someone with public health degree or health administration degree. The chief or nurses is not responsible for direct patient treatment, but she is more into the management and leadership function for nursing department.

Further more, the public health degree could also have job opportunity as consultant for hospital services. They can work in a hospital construction project because they know the flow of work and process in hospital for example. Non-clinical jobs has a wide option for someone who has interest in health care service, but not willing to involve in a mentally stressful work as doctor and nurse, or because of the limited physical ability to stand for long time.
